Te Ira Tangata: From the enrolment interview, parents and students understand that the activities and culture of TKKM o Taumārere highlight child centred, holistic approaches to learning through physical, spiritual, academic and whanaungatanga kaupapa Māori education.


Te Reo: Te Reo Māori is the dominant language of instruction and communication for all ākonga 1 – 10 at TKKM o Taumārere. Senior ākonga in years 11 – 13 continue to use te reo Māori learning and strengthen English literacy skills and knowledge to support theirachievement of credits for qualification.


Ngā Iwi: The organisational structure in the charter and the kura vision statement – Kia maumahara ki tō mana ahua ake – provides evidence that the kura learning environment is controlled by whānau and that there is regular interaction with the knowledge of whānau,hapū, Ngāti Hine, Ngāpuhi iwi and that each ākonga cultural heritage is valued.


Te Ao: The curriculum plans at TKKM o Taumārere demonstrates that teaching and learning is experienced within a happy, stimulating and spiritual environment.


Āhuatanga Ako: The daily life and activities in TKKM o Taumārere are supported and

mentored at kura and at home to recognise and build their individual talents while developing spiritual, social and emotional self-awareness and understanding.


Te Tino Uaratanga: Graduates of TKKM o Taumārere are supported and mentored at kura and at home to recognise and build their individual talents while also developing spiritual, social and emotional self-awareness and understanding.
