Parent Interviews

Kura will Finish at 12pm for Parent interviews

On Tuesday 21st March we will be having parent interviews.

Kura will finish at 12pm with all tamariki offsite by 12.30pm. This gives kaiako time for a lunch break before starting parent interviews at 1pm.

Buses and vans will be running from 12pm.

All parents have been allocated time with their child’s kaiako. Timetables have been emailed to all parents.

Strike Action - Thursday 16 March

Kura will be closed THURSDAY 16 MARCH

PPTA and NZEI have advised that all unionised kaiako from all across the motu will be going on Strike on Thursday 16th March.

The Board has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff, and unfortunately, we are unable to provide normal instruction during the strike, therefore, kura will be closed. Buses/vans will not be running.

Kura will reopen on Friday 17 March (as per usual).

Emergency Lockdown Procedure Drill

Kura Emergency Lockdown Drill

Tēna Koutou e Te Whānau,

As part of keeping our school safe we need to be able to respond safely and quickly to

a range of emergency situations.

We work alongside an independent company, Harrison Tew ® , who specialises in

emergency management planning for schools, whose procedures have been

successfully implemented in hundreds of schools throughout New Zealand.

As part of maintaining our emergency procedures in our school, specialised training is

being conducted with our senior leadership and staff by Harrison Tew ® .

The students will also receive information on how to respond in an emergency directed

at their respective age groups from either their teacher or Harrison Tew ® .

We will then be conducting a lockdown exercise on the 8th November under the guidance and support of

Harrison Tew ® .

During the exercise you will receive a notification from the school, so it is important that

your emergency contact details are up to date and correct. The notification will

emphasise that this is an exercise/practice and will explain that all updated information

will then be posted on the school website.

In a genuine incident, should you become aware of a lockdown or evacuation at the

school, can I please ask that you do not attend the school or phone, as we will not be

able to respond. Your presence or contact may make it more difficult for us or the

emergency services to manage a situation.

Kia ora whanau,

Please see attached results of the TKKM o Taumārere Parent/Teacher elections.

As per the Returning Officer Handbook 2022, pg 13, this has been a non-voting election. This is due to five positions being available, but only three nominations received. For voting to take place five valid nominations needed to be submitted. Two additional nominations were received but deemed invalid as they weren’t signed by the candidate.

Elected board members take office seven days after nominations close – in this case, Friday 26 ^th August.

Parent elect members: Tiakina Milne, Amy Armstrong, Jayme Armstrong.

Staff elect member: Judy Waiomio.

School daily structure change for the rest of Term 1

Our kura will be adopting a new daily structure that is designed to limit the spread of Covid-19 in our kura and ensure that we are able to remain open even with confirmed cases in our school community.

Please have a read through of the document and if you have any feedback, questions or concerns about our plan, please contact the kura.

School Reopening date:

Due to the change of our daily structure, we will be reopening on WEDNESDAY 9th of FEBRUARY, 2022 with Te Kākārauri in school for onsite instruction and Te Ata Hāpara at home on distance learning (refer to the School Structure doc for clarification) .

Contact Information UPDATE:

We need to make sure that we have up to date contact information for our whānau. Therefore, if you have changed your phone number, email address or home address, please let us know as soon as possible.

Whānau communication:

We will be sending regular whānau updates regarding our Covid-19 response plan, in-school and out of school activities via letters home, email and our school Facebook page. Please make sure that you check these regularly to ensure that you are up to date with what is happening at our kura.

School Website Development

We are currently developing our school website. We will use it as the main source of information for our kura. We anticipate that it should be ready by the end of the term and that whānau will be able to interact with it by the beginning of Term 2. We will keep you updated.
